My Review

I loved this book. From the beginning I was hooked. I love that it is being told from the perspective of a demon which is a refreshing change from a lot of angel POVs.

Looking at the structure of the novel and its content I was very impressed especially as this is a debut novel. There was the perfect amount of descriptions, enough to give you a good idea of the scene and not too much to bore you. The same goes for the historical content in the book. When the characters describe past events they are doing so with enough information while not dragging it out. I cannot stress how important I feel this is in a book. A lot of books can sway towards one side or the other but I found that this book was at the right level of interesting.

Moving on to the characters. Again, this is a very important part of any book for me, I can get annoyed easily by certain types of characters but luckily this book didn't have any of them. Pen was a very good protagonist as she had a very logical way of thinking and didn't often let her emotions rule so that the read could see exactly how the story unfolded without being hindered by unnecessary babbling.

The story had my attention immediately because Pen was in the middle of killing people in the beginning and shortly into the book the Archangel Michael returned but he does not remember his past life and he appears to be uneducated and inexperienced and also seems to have an interest in Pen. Needless to say after one chapter I was drawn into finishing the book as quickly as possible.

I will warn you that the chapters end in such a way that you will want to read the next immediately so clear your schedule if you plan to read this.

I am eagerly awaiting the next book :)

  2. Yes, they really do. I had to stop in the middle of some chapters sometimes just so I could have a break because I knew if I got to the end I would want to keep reading -Tia
