She's the Beauty.

He's the Beast.

Powerless to silence the voices in her head, Angelina obeys their every command, even if it means ruining her college career, swindling money from her friends, or kidnapping and killing a siren so she can brew a love potion to ensnare the man she's crushed on since childhood.

The Hunter, a man-wolf-hawk chimera, drowns the memories of his murdered family in liquor. A tracker for hire, an honorable man who has misplaced his honor, a twisted soul with no heart left to care.

…until Angelina hires the Hunter to help her track down a siren and wakes him from his drunken stupor. What will it take to set them both free?

4/5

This was another great installment in the Paranormal Investigations series. We are given some much needed insight into Angelina and how she came to do the things she did in the first book. It was so hard to watch her downfall and my heart broke for the girl. She goes through some pretty horrible things. This book was a lot darker than Playing Hooky, with some scenes that were quite disturbing. So for those who have read Playing Hooky be warned that this is not the same fun and lighthearted read.

Another person we are given some insight into is Hunter. The story is told in alternating POV's between Angelina and Hunter and I really liked this. I didn't know what to make of Hunter after book #1 but I came to understand him more from this book. I found myself liking him and wanting to find out more about him. I loved how these two broken people found each other when they needed each other most.

The characters in these books are very well written and you find yourself connecting with them. Even though the books are really short they are so captivating. The world that Rita and TJ have created is so imaginative and creative. In each book you find something new and I can't wait to see what is to come in Taking Chances. Even though I really liked this installment I can't wait to get back to Emma and Jason's story.
